Total damage so far: $1,816... not too bad. If you were to order something similar from an OEM, it'd set you back about $1600 as of March 2004. For comparison, the TiVo DirecTV HD receiver is $1,000.
Note: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 is not something you can just go out and buy, alas. You need to buy a PC with MCE preinstalled, or take out a MSDN subscription [about $700].
