Equipping the Car

Here's what we'll need to equip the car:

• GPS, with 12v car power adapter, external antenna, and MapSource CD (bringing all from California)
• long handled shovel
• sand mats & parachute cord to tie mats to rear bumper
• long handled shovel
• two spare tyres and rims
• 12v inflation pump
• can of tyre sealant
• water containers--100 liters worth, good for five days at 10 liters/person/day
• extra coolant
• extra oil
• extra fuel container
• ladderjack (a second one, assuming the car has one)
• jack base plate, like a piece of metal or plywood
• EPRB radio becon (hire or buy)
• log book
• Motorola PCS radios for short range communications in convoy
• 12v Esky (Igloo cooler) for cool beer and drinks
